As well as visiting Amersham Museum, find out more about the old town or the 16th century martyrs by following one of our guides as they take you on a walk through history.
Old Town Walk
Guided Walks around Amersham Old Town will take place every Sunday from 7th April until 27th October 2013, starting at the museum at 2.30pm. The walk takes about 1½ hours. The cost is £2.00 for adults, children under 16 free.
Please let us know in advance if you are bringing a group of seven or more people who wish to join the walk so that we can arrange an extra guide if necessary. For groups of 10 or more we are happy to arrange a walk at a time and date of your choice – see the group visits page.
You can learn more about the history of the buildings from our Amersham Buildings page.
Guides in 16th century costume tell the story of the Lollard Martyrs and life in Amersham in the early 16th century. The walk starts at 2.30pm at the museum on the last Saturday of the month from 27th April to 28th September 2013. The walk takes approximately 2 hours and part of the walk is a climb up through the fields to the Martyrs Memorial. Cost £2.00, children under 16 free. More information about the Martyrs.
We do not take bookings in advance for Martyrs walks; you are welcome to turn up and join in. If you have a large group we can arrange a walk especially for you – see the group visits page.
