Amersham Museum is an award winning museum located in an original Tudor hall house at 49 High Street in Old Amersham. Welcome to our web pages.
News
New for 2008
- A display of toys, many originally purchased at Mr. Butler's shop in Market Square, and others with local associations including some made by Amersham Toys.
- More information about the museum's herb garden and the medicinal and culinary use of plants in past times.
- A new introductory film about the history of Amersham.
We change some of our displays every year so that visitors can see more of the museum's

Recent developments
In 2007 we improved our visitor facilities and redisplayed the first floor rooms with new
displays on
- Local medieval finds, the Amersham Martyrs, wall paintings and trade tokens.
- Amersham black lace, straw plait for hats and other local rural industries.
- Boots, shoes and hats found in old Amersham buildings.
- Upstairs, downstairs - Victorian and Edwardian Amersham.
- New 'Do you remember' display on WW2 and the home front.
We are now collecting items from the 1950s to the 1980s with strong Amersham connections for
future exhibitions. Please contact us on 01494 723700 or e-mail us via the Contact page if
you have something that you think may be of interest.
