The museum collections tell the story of local events, places and people. Do you know about
Amersham's medieval martyrs, wall paintings, straw plait and lace making, sausage factory and
perfume makers? To find out more come and visit us.
Opening times and Admission charges
We are open from Easter Saturday to the end of October on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday
Monday afternoons from 2.00 - 4.30 pm. In addition from May to September the museum is also
open on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
Visits at other times can be arranged for group bookings.
Admission is just £2 for adults and children accompanied by an adult are free of charge.
There are a range of activities for families throughout the season when a small charge will be
made to cover the cost of materials used by participants. See the Events page for further details.
Access, Visitor Facilities and Parking
The museum has low doorways and beams so tall visitors may need to duck as they walk around.
There is a permanent ramp to assist access from the street into the museum and the garden.
From the garden patio, up two steps, there are toilet facilities and a kitchen where hot and
cold drinks are available. A moveable ramp is available to help with access to the main garden.
There is a short flight of stairs to the upper floor, but no lift due to the age of the building.
Free parking is available in the High Street outside the museum, but we regret that there are no
designated disabled parking spaces nearby. The nearest car park with disabled parking spaces and
toilets is just off the Broadway about 400 yards from the museum.
Shop
The Museum shop stocks a range of traditional toys at pocket money prices as well as local history
books, postcards and unique Amersham Museum gifts.
George Ward's photographs of the old town, its people and traditions, are a rare insight into the
town between 1880 and 1930. Order a print of your choice or buy a set of 6 coasters showing
some of the most popular views.
